Juggling and Object Manipulation

One of the great things about juggling and object manipulation is the freedom. You may be bound by vertical limits, but the creative possibilities never end. My hope with this website is to inform people that want to learn a little more about juggling and object manipulation skills.
Juggling has been around for at least 4,000 years. Jugglers were depicted in ancient Egyptian pyramids from around 2,000 BC. Recently it has gained more popularity than ever before, and the popularity continues to grow.
If you have never learned to juggle before, you will find that learning to juggle 3 balls can be fun. And then you’ll have something to do whenever you get bored. As soon as you can do a basic 3 ball cascade, you can start to learn tricks. And the new tricks you can learn or make up are limitless.
There are many other object manipulation skills that are similar to juggling. Take for instance, contact juggling. Contact juggling is a form of manipulation where the objects never leave the body.
Many different objects are used by jugglers today. Devil sticks and diabolos are a few examples of these. Originally used by Chinese acrobats, they were brought back to Europe and took a new form, and have become quite popular among jugglers.
Skill toys like the yo-yo and spin top are also popular objects to manipulate. Another skill toy you may or may not have heard of is the kendama. A kendama is a Japanese toy with 3 cups and a stick, tied to a ball with a hole in it. There are countless ways to throw the ball and catch it with the kendama. It’s a great way to improve coordination.
In the past, before props made specifically for juggling were widely available, jugglers would use whatever they could. For example, juggling plates was quite popular. Some acts would juggle everything on the dinner table.
Juggling can have many benefits, including stress relief and improved creativity. A study has even shown that juggling can increase the size of gray matter in the brain.
I’ll give a brief explanation of several juggling props and skill toys, plus articles on juggling in general.
